After much anticipation the day finally arrived for the Vonkel Vriendinne to learn the art of Burlesque style Chair Dancing.

Armed with some snacks, drinks, outfits, make-up and accessories, the Vriendinne arrived on Saturday the 25th of June for our monthly gathering.

The meeting was declared open while the Vriendinne enjoyed some drinks and snacks, sharing ideas and tips on how to create the perfect Burlesque character.

And then the transformation started….

With fishnet stockings, feather boas, flowers, heels and dresses being pulled out of bags, our venue became our back-stage dressing room.

Sharing make-up tips, liquid eyeliner and false lashes, the Vriendinne lapsed back in time, and soon found ourselves to be characters on our way to Broadway.

Samantha, our dancing instructor arrived right on time, to an eager bunch of cabaret ladies, ready to Burlesque.

The lessons gave cause for much laughter, but we eventually managed to get through the routine (with the faithful help of our teachers voice shouting out the moves in the background).

After the conclusion of the lessons, our husbands arrived for a soup and sherry evening. A brave few pulled together the nerve to do our Burlesque routine to the very supporting audience consisting of hubbies and fellow Vonkel Vriendinne.

The memory of this event will be engraved with the Vriendinne for a long time to come, definitely outlasting the muscle ache we’ve been suffering with since Sunday…
